Howard Street: Transformative Ideas

Brisbane City Council identified 16 key areas throughout the inner city which have potential for transformation, and invited leading design teams, including Arkhefield, to put forward their ideas for how the city centre could evolve.

As part of the Ideas Fiesta launched this week, BCC have released these ideas to stimulate conversation and capture the attention and imagination of the community.

Arkhefield have presented their ideas for the redevelopment of the Howard Smith Wharves beneath the Story Bridge. The vision is for a world class river’s edge destination offering an authentic experience of our river city, our natural assets, our food, our events, our architecture and our outdoor lifestyle. Together, the landscape and the development of a riverside recreational precinct present an iconic and contemporary revitalisation of one of the last undeveloped riverfront locations in Brisbane’s CBD. The site offers a rare opportunity to mix economic development and provide significant parkland whilst protecting the city’s heritage.

You can have your say and get involved by posting your idea to Twitter, Instagram, Pininterest or Facebook wall mentioning ‘City Centre Master Plan’, ‘Ideas Fiesta’, #bneccmp or #iFbne
