Wesley brings a background of managing the design, documentation and delivery of projects developed over 30 years’ experience working on large, complex projects.

When it comes to the detailed design of a project, associate architect Wesley Shaw is driven by the challenge of getting things built. He likes to create places that make a difference to people’s everyday life and is committed to ensuring the design intent is achieved through the detailed and pragmatic stages of project, such as the documentation, construction and compliance phases.

Having worked in the industry for 30 years, Wesley is a big believer in applying design thinking to all projects. He specialises in large scale public buildings and often works on site in conjunction with project builders.

Some of the most recognisable projects he has contributed to include Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, the award-winning Smith Collective which served as the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games athletes’ village and the Waterfront Precinct project. With a background in environmentally sustainable design, Wesley is accredited with the Green Building Council of Australia and strongly believes in design efficiency and passive design. He often consults across Arkhefield’s wider project teams on the most sustainable
design techniques.

Wesley has a Bachelor of Built Environment and a Graduate Diploma in Architecture. In his free-time he loves exploring buildings and appreciating architecture and art in all its forms. He is also an avid cycler and explores the landscapes of South-East Queensland.
