On The House
The creation of a space in Brisbane’s CBD for the progressive growing business of On the House has enabled them to spread their wings, working flexibly and collaboratively.
The design intent was to support their strong organizational culture and dynamic work styles, balancing design innovation with commercial reality.
The client was looking for a playful and engaging workspace that addressed the differing work styles and reflected the personalities within their organisation. Insertions into the historical envelope, built on the city planning principles surrounding the building, inspired the creation of internal neighbourhoods, main streets and pods. This allowed minimal disruption to the beauty of the existing shell whilst addressing the requirements of a variety of work settings.
These fundamental planning steps were coupled with the principles of good design such as embracing natural light, providing visual connections to destinations and allowing the natural beauty of the building to breathe. The social and collaborative aspects of this project were of importance to design outcome. The seamless linking of space between training, boardroom, café outdoor and breakout / meeting spaces were grouped together, responding to the needs of the organisations collaborative and social ways of working.Onthehouse from GroundedMotion on Vimeo.
