Designing and delivering Brisbane’s most prestigious residential apartments for a spectacular north-east riverfront site in the heart of Teneriffe demanded the highest attention to detail, and some delicate negotiation with client and council alike.
The brief and town planning guidelines favoured a mixed-use development with a maximum height of four storeys. Arkhefield successfully negotiated to change the local area plan and the client focus in favour of a dedicated residential development comprising a sequence of buildings of three to seven storeys.
We demonstrated how a series of separate buildings of various scales throughout the long and narrow site would maintain connection and permeability between Macquarie Street and the river. Each building has a maximum two apartments per floor, optimising privacy, individuality, views and ventilation. The majority of the apartments were customised by the interior design team at Arkhefield to suit the individual owners.
One Macquarie Street has proven highly successful, making a valuable contribution to the local property market and built environment. The development quickly became Brisbane’s number one multi-residential address.
