The redeveloped waterfront site now known as Portside was previously a wharf for container shipping.
Rejuvenated as the new gateway to Brisbane, a 400m long promenade was created as a berthing platform to farewell and welcome over 4000 passengers through their cruise ship terminal.
Designed as an active hub of cultural and social activity for the inner city suburb of Hamilton, the development is enhanced by large public spaces flanked by mixed use buildings. The precinct provides restaurants, markets, cinemas, function spaces, commercial spaces and residential apartments, all positioned around a central public plaza and street to link the suburb to the river.
As a catalyst project for this evolving suburb, it balances the functions of both a cruise terminal as well as smaller, more intimate spaces for residents and visitors gathering throughout the week.
