Portside Wharf

Portside Wharf, Hamilton portside wharf, architecture, arkhefield

Portside Wharf was a catalyst project for the urban renewal of inner city suburb, Hamilton, on Brisbane’s northside. Balancing its functions as both a cruise terminal as well as a mixed use precinct, it now encompasses over 7500m2 of open public space for residents and visitors.

Designed as an active hub of cultural and social activity, the development is enhanced by large public spaces flanked by mixed use buildings. The precinct provides restaurants, markets, cinemas, function spaces, commercial spaces and residential apartments, all positioned around a central public plaza and street to link the suburb to the river.

Rejuvenated as the new gateway to Brisbane, a 400m long promenade was created as a berthing platform to farewell and welcome over 4000 passengers through their cruise ship terminal.
