Queensland Investment Corporation sought to construct a new commercial/mixed use tower fronting Albert and Elizabeth Streets.
Central to the brief was revitalising the adjoining three-floor podium of the landmark 1960s T&G Building on the corner of Queen and Albert Streets. In our first joint venture with Melbourne’s ARM Architecture, Arkhefield was awarded the project via an invited design competition.
The project design and delivery successfully negotiated many complicated site, construction, staging and heritage challenges. Environmentally sustainable design was a guiding philosophy for the development, with the building far exceeding current market best practice under the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating system.
In a bold response to a highly complex project, the new city block precinct creates a striking impression for the CBD’s retail heart, and forms a cornerstone for the city’s major meeting place. Arkhefield + ARM have maximised Q&A’s potential and delivered a fresh inner city retail and commercial project, wrapped in a glamorous and innovative façade.
