Situated on two acres of bush land, the clients existing 1950s family home provided a unique canvas for renovation. Innovative detailing, exceptional orientation and comfortable proportions in the original building provided a quality shell to enable new spaces to be inserted and emphasise the original design.
Clever use of zoning and circulation has provided varying levels of privacy and independence throughout the house, allowing each room to have multiple uses. By reopening the living spaces to the bush surrounds, light has been injected into the rooms, providing framed vistas to the surrounding prominent trees. A substantial amount of original features have been retained with new elements, details and materials used to complement and contrast the existing design.
