The Village at Yeronga is a medium density, residential development in Brisbane’s city fringe combining traditional retirement and aged care facilities – an exemplar for the ageing in place model in an inner city environment.
Arkhefield conceived a master plan for the site as an initial concept, continuing on to design and deliver stages one and two of the development.
The focus was on creating a village community that promotes social interaction, and includes 91 independent living apartments alongside community facilities and infrastructure. Facilities comprise commercial kitchen, restaurant, cinema, lounges, bar, library, café, indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, billiards room, beauty salon, wellness centre and pharmacy-no-rx.net medical centre.
Negotiating the density of the development through careful planning and design has provided maximum usability and capitalised on the development of a large site. Critical to the projects commercial viability was the staging process, with infrastructure efficiently planned form the outset to create a centralised, standalone first stage precinct that serves as a hub for future development.
