Chatswood Central

The revitalisation of Chatswood Central focusses on a vibrant new public space connecting new buildings with the expanded anchor tenancy.

The key element to the extension is the new free standing building located between the existing shopping centre and the new car park, separated by covered arcades and external seating areas.

A key design element was to create a vibrant covered outdoor market street linking the existing and new buildings. The pedestrian arcades borrow design principles from a market place and create a strong village atmosphere. The development comprises a mix of restaurants, cafes, specialty retail, supermarket and fresh food market.

The high level fly roof creates a statement to the new shopping center whilst also providing shade to the market street below. The covered market street is the main pedestrian circulation spine and includes a new central travelator linking the undercroft carpark to the shopping level. The “market street” is activated on both edges with vibrant food tenancies and outdoor seating catering for relaxed seating and also dining opportunities.

Chatswood Central is currently under construction.

Brisbane International Airport Retail Upgrade

The vision of Brisbane Airport Corporation is “to be world-best and the preferred choice for passengers, airlines, business and the community”. Arkhefield, in collaboration with Richards & Spence, were chosen to extend this inspirational vision to a major upgrade of the retail component at Brisbane International Airport—a considerable undertaking in scale and scope.

Q&A Building

The Q&A Building at the centre of Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall forms a cornerstone precinct for the city’s major meeting place. Arkhefield worked with Queensland Investment Corporation to create a street based life, with retail tenancies, food and beverage offerings and commercial tower above to revitalise the precinct.

The Barracks

The historic Barracks precinct on Brisbane’s city fringe sat vacant for 20 years. Arkhefield revived the project and realised the potential of the site by rethinking the master plan to create a dynamic mixed use precinct.
