Arkhefield worked with the City West Task Force, Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to prepare a master plan for the City West precinct at Petrie Terrace.

The vision was to revitalise the precinct into a more liveable, prosperous and connected place.

The overarching design strategy was based on an approach led by the public realm and placemaking. By focusing the design around people, we were able to deliver a walkable grid of streets and spaces that offer safe, legible, attractive and comfortable environments for all users.

We created connections in terms of both movement and exchange, providing new avenues to places which were once disconnected. The result provides a framework for social and economic renewal to support and guide sustainable private sector developments for this area.

The City West Master Plan later formed the framework of the redevelopment of The Barracks site which was also designed and delivered by Arkhefield.

Arkhefield worked closely with HaMELL to deliver this vibrant mixed use development in Hawthorne, Brisbane.

Brisbane International Airport Retail Upgrade

The vision of Brisbane Airport Corporation is “to be world-best and the preferred choice for passengers, airlines, business and the community”. Arkhefield, in collaboration with Richards & Spence, were chosen to extend this inspirational vision to a major upgrade of the retail component at Brisbane International Airport—a considerable undertaking in scale and scope.
