The Parklands

The Parklands is a landmark precinct and represents Queensland’s largest multi-residential project ever undertaken in a single stage.

The design by joint venture group AAA – Arkhefield, ARM and Archipelago –  for Grocon brings together hinterland and coastline to capture the essence of the subtropical climate emblematic of the Gold Coast. The new village will temporarily house 6,500 athletes and officials during the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, and will be converted post games into a new community.

After the games, the infrastructure will be transformed into a modern, vibrant, residential and business community that will be integrated into the adjacent Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct. The 7.1ha site organises itself around a main street connecting Parklands Drive, Hospital Boulevard and the Village Heart, and will include 1252 dwellings consisting of 3 bedroom town homes and 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.

Sustainability was at the core of the design for The Parklands and has been acknowledged as Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star Community by the Green Building Council of Australia.
