West Village
Master Plan
The West Village master plan represents a significant mixed use development in the inner city suburb of West End, comprising multi-residential, retail and public realm spaces.
The site combines seven residential towers, supermarket and speciality retail around the adaptive reuse of two heritage listed factory building which form the core of the precinct.
Central to the design concept was creating a centrepiece around West End’s popular original heritage listed Peters Ice Cream Factory and adjoining Cone Factory. A series of diverse public laneways and squares stem from the buildings, creating a ‘cathedral in the round’.
The two factories will be revitalised into new apartments, office space, specialty retail, and a fresh food market.
The master plan involved extensive consultation with authorities and the community to develop an integrated public realm that evolved the existing culture and context of West End into the new precinct.
