Arkhefield in collaboration with Arup creates a design for the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal that is focused on the efficient movement of passengers from kerbside to ship, with an emphasis on positive customer experiences during both embarkation and disembarkation.

The vision of Brisbane Airport Corporation is “to be world-best and the preferred choice for passengers, airlines, business and the community”. Arkhefield, in collaboration with Richards & Spence, were chosen to extend this inspirational vision to a major upgrade of the retail component at Brisbane International Airport—a considerable undertaking in scale and scope.

Operating 24 hours, seven days a week and patronised by over 17 million passengers, the Brisbane Domestic Terminal Building is the primary welcome mat for interstate guests. This project involves the revitalisation of the Southern Concourse Virgin food court into a welcoming dining and waiting area.

Located at the entrance of one of Queensland’s largest ports, Townsville Cruise Terminal is designed by Arkhefield to be a highly memorable, multi-use development, defining the interface between the port operations and the public realm.

In a major urban renewal and public infrastructure initiative for Cairns, the 100 year old, heritage-listed “Wharf Shed 3” on Trinity Inlet was refurbished and transformed into an international standard cruise liner terminal, function and exhibition space by Arkhefield in association with Total Project Group.

The BP Travel Centres are an integral part of the motorways connecting Brisbane to the North and the South Coasts. The Arkhefield design incorporating a BP fuel station, interactive tourist information bureau, communications lounge, convenience store, food hall, cafe and truckers facilities.
